My 80-year-old Memaw just launched her business
Last week, I helped my grandma launch her newest business at 80 years young — and she's proving it's never too late to do the damn thing.
For most of her life, my Memaw was the ultimate homemaker. As her kids grew up, she would sell baskets, run antique booths, and help her own mom (my Great Grandma Jo) with her women's apparel shop in small-town Indiana.
My Memaw has always been a creator. She used to do craft shows, hauling her supplies around, and standing on her feet all day. Now? She just wants to create peacefully at home, surrounded by her beads and crystals.
The wild part is that it wasn't fear holding her back from starting an online business. It wasn't wondering if people would buy from her because trust me… her suncatchers and jewelry sets are MAGICAL.
👉 It was the tech stuff.
"How do I take good photos?"
"What's with all these Etsy fees?"
"Payment systems and printing labels... what now?"
So my mom, sister, and I jumped in. Three generations of women, all hands on deck, helping Memaw share her suncatchers with the world.
👉 Her goals were pure GOLD:
Give everyone's home a chance to sparkle
Help my grandpa retire from his ministry
Create peacefully from her happy place (no more shows!)
👉 We went ALL in with her launch support:
7 emails
35 social media posts
2 FB lives
Business cards
40 sparkling items in the shop
1 month of marketing
1 beautiful Square shop/website
Hearing my grandma, at 80 years young, say, "I never thought I could get these out into the world," made me think. If she can launch a business at 80, what's stopping the rest of us?
It's not just strategies and templates, even though those help! It's having someone who believes in your dream as much as you do. Or someone who believes in your offer enough to tackle your to-do list and untangle all the tech you struggle with.
Sometimes, that someone is your granddaughter who refuses to let you keep giving away your art for free to the ladies at church
And sometimes, that someone is me - your launch logistics expert who refuses to let tech troubles and to-do lists keep YOUR magic from reaching the world.
👉 Because whether you're 80 or 28, you shouldn't have to figure out all the tech stuff alone.

Launching sucks.🙄 One moment, you’re voice messaging your biz bestie about your brand new offer idea… and then next, you’re looking at a launching to-do list longer than a CVS receipt.
